Being heard is so close to being loved that for the average person they are almost indistinguishable.
David Augsburger
Many people begin therapy unsure of where to start. Sometimes the weight of past experiences, current stress, or overwhelming emotions can make it difficult to put feelings into words. Therapy offers a place to slow down, be heard without judgment, and begin making sense of experiences that may have felt impossible to carry alone.
Through my work with individuals across a wide range of needs and life experiences, I have learned that beneath many struggles is a shared desire to feel seen, understood, and supported while working toward healing. I strive to create a space where clients feel safe enough to speak openly about difficult experiences while also recognizing the resilience that helped them move forward.
Clients often describe me as compassionate, steady, and someone who can sit comfortably with experiences that may feel hard to talk about elsewhere. I believe meaningful change begins when people feel genuinely listened to and supported while gaining new insight into their experiences.
My approach is collaborative and trauma informed. I integrate tools from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), mindfulness, and parts oriented work to help clients better understand the roots of emotional pain, develop practical coping strategies, and build compassion for the parts of themselves that adapted during difficult circumstances.
I offer therapy services to individuals ages 18 and older at our Downtown Fire Station Clinic and Middleton location.
AREAS OF FOCUS
TRAUMA RECOVERY
I have a strong passion for supporting individuals who are healing from trauma, adverse life experiences, and major life transitions. I work with clients navigating anxiety, depression, trauma related concerns, and sexual trauma, helping them better understand their experiences while building tools for stability, clarity, and healing.
FOSTER CARE, ADOPTION, AND EARLY LIFE EXPERIENCES
My work with foster youth and children who have experienced instability has deeply shaped my understanding of trauma, resilience, and the long term impact of early life experiences. I also enjoy working with adults who are navigating the lasting effects of foster care or adoption, as well as adults who are preparing to adopt or foster children and want support as they enter that journey. This work often includes exploring identity, attachment, trust, and the impact of early environments on present day relationships and self understanding.
ANXIETY, DEPRESSION, AND LIFE TRANSITIONS
I frequently support individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, and challenges connected to life transitions. I especially enjoy working with clients who may feel hesitant about starting therapy or unsure where to begin. Together we move at a pace that feels safe while building confidence, insight, and practical tools for navigating change.
OTHER AREAS I TREAT
- Adjustment and life transitions
- Adverse childhood experiences
- Identity development
- Emotional regulation
- Self worth and self understanding
If you are considering therapy but feeling uncertain about reaching out, please know that those feelings are very common. You do not need to have everything figured out before starting the process. Therapy can begin simply with a conversation.
